Water and Climate Exploratorium: Inspiring Rural Minds through Science

About Event:

Monday, October 06, 2025 (09:00-16:00) Timing (IST)

The proposed event is a one-day outreach initiative for rural school and college students, scheduled during the inaugural day of the XIIth IAHS Scientific Assembly 2025 at IIT Roorkee. The program will begin with students attending the inaugural session of the Assembly, offering them exposure to a global scientific gathering. This will be followed by interactive sessions led by two IIT Roorkee faculty members and two PhD/Master’s students, focusing on career guidance and scientific understanding of the water cycle, climate change, and extreme hydrometeorological events. The aim is to inspire curiosity and build awareness of water-related challenges and opportunities. Students will also visit the Hydrometeorological Laboratory at the Department of Hydrology, where they will observe live demonstrations of instruments and data collection systems. This immersive experience will enable students to connect science with real-world issues and explore possible academic and professional pathways in hydrology, climate science, and environmental research.
