  • The drive to Roorkee typically takes about 04 hours from Delhi and 1.5hrs from Dehradun, with planned stops for restroom breaks and refreshments along the way.

Assuming you arrive at Delhi Airport (Indira Gandhi International Airport)

After landing at Delhi Airport, proceed to the appropriate terminal exit (Terminal 3 for most international flights). This guide assumes arrival at Terminal 3. Terminal 2 and 3 are within walking distance (500m) of each other, hence the same instructions apply. Nearest metro rail station for T3 and T2 is AIRPORT (T-3) in the Airport express (Orange) line line. Terminal 1 is a bit far away (from T2 & T3), with the nearest metro rail station being TERMINAL 1-IGI AIRPORT in Violet line.

Reaching Railway station from Airport

  • Travel Time: 5–6 hours.
Depending on your bus starting point, you may have to take a cab or metro to ISBT kashmere gate, from which interstate buses usually operate. Though less frequent, some buses to Roorkee also start from Delhi Airport.

How to Reach:
  • By Metro (35 mins|1 transfer|₹80 ~ $1 ): Take Airport Metro Express Line from Airport (T3) station to New Delhi switch to Yellow Line Exit at Kashmere Gate.
  • Alternatively, take a taxi (Recommended: Blusmart)
Roorkee is well connected to Delhi by rail and road. It is situated on National Highways 58 and 73 and is on Amritsar-Howrah main rail route. Some trains which are convenient for travelling between Delhi and Roorkee are New Delhi-Dehradun-New Delhi Shatabdi Express and Dehradun-New Delhi-Dehradun Janshatabdi Express. The nearest airport is located at Jollygrant, Dehradun. However, New Delhi is the preferred airport. National Highway 58 from New Delhi to the higher reaches of the Himalayas passes via Roorkee. Roorkee is, therefore, well connected to all the major cities in the region by road. There are frequent bus services to this place from the Maharana Pratap Inter State Bus Terminal (Kashmere Gate) Delhi.
