Inter-Continental Comparison of Current Drought Impacts and Drought Research Approaches

(IAHS HELPING Drought in the Anthropocene Group)

About Event:

Monday, October 06, 2025 (17:30-19:30) Timing (IST)

We invite drought researchers from across the globe for a gathering to compare and exchange data on drought analysis and impacts within a diversity of climatic and geographical settings. Drought impacts may include decreased agricultural yield, effects on critical infrastructure such as water and energy supply or transportation routes, cascading hazards on wetlands, aquatic habitat, water quality, land degradation and wildfire in rural settings, as well as drought impacts on urban ecosystems. Through this approach, we would like to identify drought hotspots. The workshop will also give an opportunity to share the latest tool developments in drought data and impact analysis, including big data analysis, time series analysis, remote sensing and modelling approaches.
