Co-Creating Water Knowledge - Working Group Meeting

About Event:

The event will represent the first gathering of the IAHS HELPING Theme 3 Working Group (WG) “Co-Creating Water Knowledge”.

The group represents a multidisciplinary community of researchers active in water sciences (including all the possible declinations from social sciences, to geography, economics, physical sciences) who have the ultimate goal of developing “a platform within IAHS dedicated to co-creating water knowledge by drawing on different ways of knowing without establishing a hierarchy between them and recognising their values and richness for addressing present and future water-related challenges and fostering just and sustainable futures.”

The event will be organized on two days, with activities outside the conference venue (a walk to be planned in the nature around Rorkee) to facilitate exchange and mutual learning, and new ideas. In the on-site part of the meeting, an informal yet practical meeting will be organized with the following activities:

  • Presentation of the WG
  • Discussion of the main findings of the first two years of the WG: overarching principles for and approaches to co-creation of water knowledge
  • Discussion and brainstorming of the next activities, including: New paper ideas, New project ideas, Networking with UNESCO Chairs and other IAHS WGs and initiatives, Development of the “online” field notebook, Exchange of ideas for common co-creation theses and supervision, or courses.

The discussion will take place in parallel groups, depending on the number of participants.

The event will be fully open to all interested conference attendees.
