The IAHS Scientific Assembly is a premier international conference in the Hydrology domain held every four years around the globe and attracts many participants worldwide. The XIIth Scientific Assembly of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS 2025) will be jointly organized by the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, in coordination with the National Institute of Hydrology Roorkee, Irrigation Research Institute Roorkee and CBRI–Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) Roorkee, four leading institutions in the field of water resources in India.
The objective of the XIIth IAHS scientific Assembly is to provide an opportunity to communicate, exchange and project on all major topics in the hydrological sciences within the framework of sessions organized by all IAHS Commissions and Working Groups. In the context of the multiple instabilities that prevail today, the task is immense and yet scientists have a duty to provide elements of answers and solutions to the challenges facing us in the coming years. In this respect, the diversity and quality of the expected participants is the guarantee of a productive and high-level Assembly.
The conference brings together researchers, practitioners, policy-makers, and students worldwide to discuss and exchange ideas on the latest developments, best practices, and innovative water resource management approaches. The conference covers a wide range of topics related to water resources, including water conservation, water quality, water governance, water-related disasters, climate change impacts on water resources, and emerging technologies for water management. The conference provides a unique platform for interdisciplinary knowledge sharing, collaboration, and networking opportunities. In addition to keynote speeches, technical presentations, and panel discussions, the conference includes field visits, workshops, and training programs. The conference provides an excellent opportunity for participants to engage with experts, interact with fellow professionals, and learn about the latest water resource management tools and techniques. Overall, the XIIth IAHS scientific Assembly envisages playing an essential role in advancing the knowledge and practice of Hydrology.
This year IAHS experimented with a new program form, to encourage scientific outlook and interactions between participants. Everyone will get an opportunity to speak in a Forum for the plenum. In addition, there will be less but more engaging presentations for the broad community of hydrological sciences, without any parallel sessions.
