On 7 October 2025 at 17:00, the XIIth Scientific Assembly of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS 2025) will host a high-level panel session titled “Science for Water Crisis Solutions.” This pivotal event—organised in collaboration with the Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme of UNESCO (IHP-UNESCO) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO)—will bring together leading global experts to address one of the most urgent challenges of our time: water crises exacerbated by climate change and increasing demand.

The session will be moderated by Christophe Cudennec (Vice President, IAHS) and will begin with opening presentations by:

  • Thom Bogaard (IAHS HELPING Decade Chair)
  • Stefan Uhlenbrook (WMO)
  • Benno Boer (IHP-UNESCO, New Delhi Office)

This will be followed by a 25-minute interactive panel discussion featuring distinguished experts including:

  • Salvatore Grimaldi,
  • Venkataraman Lakshmi,
  • Alberto Viglione,
  • Chris Rizos,
  • Augustina Alexander,
  • Seetha N, and others.
  • The XIIth Scientific Assembly is jointly organised by the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), in partnership with the National Institute of Hydrology, the Irrigation Research Institute, and the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI)—four premier Indian institutions at the forefront of water science and research.

This panel exemplifies the Assembly’s commitment to bridging cutting-edge science with effective policy and practical solutions.
